Situated in the majestic mountain scenery of eastern Vorarlberg lies the ancient Walser settlement LECH. The settlement borrowed its name from the river Lech, which has its spring 11 kms southeast at lake Alpe Formarin.
At the location where the valley opens up into a wide-spread, almost flat high plateu, the village of Lech, with its smaller localities of Zug, Zürs and Oberlech, can nowadays be found on an altitude of 1,440-1,800 meters above sea level.
For their winter holidays, many tourists stay at the ski area of Ski Arlberg, which extends over the Austrian provinces of Vorarlberg and Tyrol.
Other popular winter activities comprise bobsled (the bobsled track Lech-Oberlech is open daily from 09.00 am and 10.00 pm), ski tours, Heliskiing, and free-riding.
Lech is also renowned for its „Weißer Ring“ („White Ring“), which, with more than 22 kilometres of slope at an altitude of up to 5.500 meters, is one of the longest ski races worldwide.
From our Hotel Salome, you will be on the slope in a few simple ski turns. If you prefer to take the car or the mountain railway of Oberlech, you will be able to reach the valley’s foot in a matter of minutes.
