Sustainability and regionality

Our environment
is irreplaceable

Sustainability is closer to our hearts today than ever before. We protect our natural surroundings not because we have to, but out of conviction, joy and genuine enthusiasm for our environment.

The responsible use of resources

The term “sustainability” originally comes from 17th-century forestry. Back then, the idea was that no more trees should be felled than could grow back.

Think about it a little longer and it applies not only to timber, but just as much to every other resource. In the broadest sense, sustainability means keeping the future of our planet in mind and making sure that we do not use up all its resources in the present.

Sustainability & regionality at the Salome

Sustainability

  • Since 2009 we, too, have been connected to Fernwärme Oberlech, the local district heating network.
  • When we built our new staff house in 2007, a pellet heating system was installed from the outset.
  • A small photovoltaic system is in the pipeline.

Regionality

What we prepare comes from farmers and businesses in the surrounding area – from people we trust and to whom we have felt connected for many years, indeed decades.

Respect for the products and for nature, and for the people of the region (and of Upper Austria), whose work and passion are reflected in them.
